When The Rain Sings (Poetry)

Posted in Book Critic on May 24, 2011 by Reaan Mohamed

Author: Young Native Americans

Copyright Year: 1999

☆☆☆☆☆ 5 – This book was excellent, I would recommend this book to a person who likes cultural poetry books. It had a mass amount of poems that make you think like you are in that poem experiencing what goes on in the poem.

This book is about Native Americans culture in poetry. There are many excellent poems in this book. My favorite book is a poem in the book called, “Stormfear”

This is the poem: When the wind works against us in the dark

And pelts with snow

The loser chamber window in the east

Whispers with a sort of stifled bark

The beast

“Come out! Come out!”

It costs no inward struggle not to go

Ah, no!

This poem is my favorite because this is the only poem that I didn’t understand which meant that this poem was made so you can feel what the writer felt.

Why is there many writers who wrote the poems? Why not just one author to write all the poems?

This book reminds me of a book called, Hard Hit, because there were poems in the book where the author wrote so the readers to feel what the author tried to write about in the poem.

Author: Iain Lawrence

Copyright Year: 2008

✩✩✩✩✩ 5 stars – This book was one of the best mystery book I have ever read. While I was reading this book I felt I was there because of all the excitement of the action scenes in the book. I recommend this book to people who like mystery books that have action scenes in books.

Summary: This book is about a séance (a meeting in which a spiritualist attempts to communicate with the spirits of the dead.) where Scooter King, Madam King, Harry Houdini, Annie (characters in the book) Sit together at a table and communicate with the spirits of the dead. This séance is no ordinary one. It is one where all four of them go into the spirit world and communicate by solving clues and mazes. These four risk their lives in the séance. All of them die. One stays alive and lives his life.

Question to author: Why did you write about a this kind of séance in the book?

Did something inspire you to write this book?

Connections: My connection is that in the book “Skeleton Creek” and in “the séance” people had to die to complete their mission.

Albert Einstein and the frontiers of physics

Posted in Book Critic, Uncategorized on April 19, 2011 by Reaan Mohamed

I give this book 3 stars because the book was mostly about equations that he came up with. This non-fiction book was about Albert Einstein and physics. The book had mostly equations that Albert Einstein created and how he grew up in his child hood.

Why is this book mostly about equations that Albert Einstein created?

This book reminds me of the book Jumper.

I give book a 5 star rating- I gave this book 5 stars because it reaches my level of expectations for what I was looking in a book.

The book takes place in Zimbabwe in the year 2194 and the book is about General Matsika, the great leader of Zimbabwe, his three children go to explore Zimbabwe without their father knowing. They then get kidnapped by the Godwanna terrorists. Will they escape? Read it to find out.

Did you write this to guess how it would be like in the future?

This book reminds of the book I read called the Time Machine because both of the books are about the future.

9/11 Report

Posted in Book Critic on December 14, 2010 by Reaan Mohamed

I give this book a 3 star rating- I gave this book 3 stars because it doesn’t reach my level of expectations for what I was looking in the book. It also is missing facts about what the author included in the book.

This graphic novel is about the 9/11 incident and about the other terrorist attacks after the 9/11. It says some funny stuff about people who were getting arrested like how they looked. The graphic novel had names of people who hijacked the plane and names of people who did and led the terrorist attack like Osama Bin Laden and the name of an group that did the terrorist attacks call Al Qaeda.

Did you write this book to show people what the Muslims did?

The book is about Muslims just like in the Sakura book.
